Hearth’s Warming eve was here once again and everypony was spending time with their families and friends, save for a unicorn clad in dark purple armor. He trod through the ice and snow as he held fast to a neatly wrapped gift held aloft in his magical grasp. It was wrapped in green wrapping paper and tied up with a pretty looking pink bow with white hearts stamped all over it.
Normally a package like this would be tucked away in his saddle bags, but that right now had its lips pursed, barely able keep its contents from spewing forth. He had to walk slowly to just keep everything under wraps. Regardless of his pace, it was going to take him a little bit of time to reach his destination as he had a bit of a harder time finding his way around due to all the snow. Large open expanses of white just seem to confuse him, though unlike his last snowy excursion, he was smart enough to have a map with him this time.
He eventually came upon a house and rapped on the door. However, the pony that greeted him at the door was not the unicorn mare that he was expecting, but a hot pink earth pony with a mane of multi colors that baffled him even more than trail of snow behind him. He cleared his throat and addressed the mare, “Umm… Hello ma’am? I’m here for a Miss Aurora. Is she home?”
The earth pony mare raised an eyebrow at him and stated, “Yeah, but she’s kind of busy at the moment. May I ask what she did?”

Snow is falling as young ponies ran and played through the streets on Ponyville with nary a care in the world. Ponies of all races froliced there, hurling snowballs at each other as some merely went about their day. One such pony was a Unicorn mare. She was dressed in a fancy looking red dress, a stark contrast compared to her white appearing fur coat and the snow she trekked through. An odd sight compared to usual scarfs and hats that other ponies work, but she merely flicked her indigo mane out of her eyes as she dragged a large sled behind her as she made her way to each residence collecting supplies for the needy this holiday season in few large red bags.
This mare is known as Rarity, Element of Generosity, Pillar of Friendship, and break out star in the fashion industry. Staying true to her element, she was often the first in line to attend charity events and helping out wherever she can, and with Hearth’s Warming being around the corner, she couldn’t just sit idly by while there was work to be done. Door after door, she knocked, seeking out even the tiniest donations to help others in need. Thankfully for her, Ponyville was a kind place, so her sled was filling up fast with spare clothes, canned foods, and toys for the children.
One house she went to was not much like the others to her. It was the home of one of her competitive rivals in Manehatten, Aurora. She was a recent arrival to ponyville and a breakout star in the fashion industry. A little friendly competition never hurt anypony, in fact, when Rarity had first seen their work some time ago, she knew right from the beginning that Aurora was a pony worthy of her respect. What she hadn’t expected was when Aurora had arrived in Ponyville and tried setting up shop and working from home. She had a few ideas why this would be the case, by she dared not pry on the mare’s private life. Everypony has their secrets, she was no different, and if the mare wanted to get away from all paparazzi and the like, that was just fine. Ponyville was perfect for that after all.

The telltale sound of magic died out as a set of scissors was placed down on a table. A blue unicorn that was tall in stature and possessed the pinkest eyes known to ponykind took a step back to admire her handy work. She must admit, when this stallion came in today asking her to cut and style his mane, she was quite surprised. Sure, she’s worked on all kinds of ponies’ manes, but it was a surprise that somepony would come to her as their first choice. Normally when ponies come to her for help, it’s for beauty supplies or other accessories…
For those that remember the pony prom fanfiction with Aurora and a pony named Platinum here is another fic with those two. ^__^
I’m afraid they’re a little busy at the moment…

In their excitement, the pair of Aurora and Platinum had forgotten to hail a taxi, rather, they simply walked the whole way to his store. It was a peaceful walk through the empty night streets of Canterlot. Nary a thing could bother the two as they bounced ideas off of eachother on what materials would work best for the harness for the wings as well as the types of gems that would be used in the enchanting. All was not well however, as one fact that Platinum had pointed out threw a bit of a monkey wrench into their plans.
The issue was practicality vs fashion appeal. While many gems overlap in possible abilities, not all of them will actually be able to suit their needs, and some of those that can’t would actually look good alongside the current feathers used in the pair of wings. Granted, not all the wings that they could make will have this kind of issue, they had to deal with this now because the wings that Aurora has on her is the only ones that they have to work with. All in all, they had a lot to think about.
Soon, Aurora caught sight of the window display at the front of Tales of Solcia and was pleasantly surprised to see a tasteful display of various jeweled accessories on the mannequins in there. Rather than the mishmash of gems and metals that Platinum wore on his person, these matched, moreover, the gems color and shape complimented the complicated designs etched into the bands. She had considered asking if she could purchase one or two, but decided against it. She probably didn’t have enough money to purchase a set on her anyway.

Most of the ride to the selected French Restaurant was mostly quest, save for the occasional questions as to the ins and outs of the event of the Prom. Clearly there was a few other things that seemed off that Aurora needed addressed, such as various stores and other landmarks appearing out of place. Platinum’s answer was fairly simple. The nexus that was the prom was more than just the Canterlot gardens, it extended to the whole of Canterlot. Many stores, homes, and even the ponies themselves have been affected. Most ponies simply don’t complain or hardly even notice the difference given how most of the various world’s being brought in were similar.
It was still an odd thing to be sure, but she didn’t question it further. Some of the other questions included the thoughts of the Princesses on the Prom and whether or not Platinum’s store was also here in Canterlot. While the first answer was straightforward, they were more than happy to lend the gardens for such a wonderful event, the second answer wasn’t. In fact, all he said was that she’d know soon enough. An answer like that piqued her curiosity, as well as her suspicion.
Why not simply give a yes or a no, she wondered. Did he even know, or was there something he didn’t want her to know about. Either way, she had no plans on letting it be left at that.
There was little issue in getting a good table at the Restaurant, as the Platinum already had a reservation there. The decor was fancy and the waiters had class, but it would take more than a pleasant meal and a few compliments to win her over. If he wanted the business deal, he’d have to work hard for it. He had to show that he had could meet the professional standards of the industry and not falter under pressure. Granted, she had issues with stress at times, but the change of pace by moving to ponyville had given her a much needed improvement in her work ethic.

At the entrance to the Canterlot gardens, a unicorn businesspony waited for his date to the prom to arrive. As one might expect of a unicorn, he was of a fairly average build, standing only just barely taller than a few of the mares around him. Despite his stature, he stood tall, displaying an air of confidence that was expected of business owner. His coat was a harvest gold, contrasting well with the gold trimmed slate blue uniform he wore. It was militaristic in nature, something that would be expected if one didn’t know that he also doubled as a Night Guard.
It was a little unfortunate that he had to wear such an outfit to a lax social event such as this, but it was the only outfit he had that wasn’t stuck at the cleaners. He simply couldn’t get his normal tux in in time to beat the prom rush. At the very least he felt good knowing that even with this uncomfortable uniform on he was still able to show off some of the accessories he had crafted for this occasion. On his right foreleg was a pristine embossed bronze armband with a fire agate embedded inside. On the other was an Electrum, also called white gold,armband. Like the other one, this too had a gem in it, a citrine to be specific.
While the significance of these bands wasn’t initially apparent nor did they match his outfit all that well, they still looked of good quality.
He waited for a good ten minutes before his date had approached him. While his uniform’s color was complimentary to his coat, her dress was triadic in nature. She looked pretty good in pink lavender, and the reef green trimming made the dresses contours pop against her columbia blue coat. Her vibrant eyes scanned him, as if she was examining him as thoroughly as he was her. He had expected her to critique his sense of fashion, given the fact that she was too was in the fashion business and sizing up the competition was the usual thing to do in social events. However, when it didn’t come he bowed, taking one of her hooves and kissing it in greeting, “Aurora! So glad you could make it. I trust your trip from Ponyville was a safe one?”
@ask-the-infiltrators wrote a story with Aurora going to pony prom. It is a cute and simple story so i definitely recommend reading it.

creator’s notes: Ace’s mane and textures are custom. Aurora has a custom mane(s) and tail. Aurora’s mane was so large it had to actually be cut into pieces so the textures would actually fit on it. *nervous chuckle*
